Time for Tea...

... With a tea-dress, quite literally the prefect dress - with or without tea.

Nothing beats the timeless shape and a vintage 1940s print...

... on second thoughts - cream tea please!

As I Look To The Stars...

... I don't need to.
The Star of The Week is here with me! Every child takes a turn for genuine reasons to be Star of The Week - badges are given and certificates and reasons are given.
This time we received the accolade for 'trying really hard to listen and sharing ideas with his friends'.
Two weeks of nursery and we break up for the final time before we start reception - Summer plans under way...

Dusty Fingers...

...nothing dusty about this little gem - vintage / collectible / future classics / fun / whatever you fancy including the lightest cup cakes ever!

Dusty Fingers is a collection of vintage clothing / jewellry / furniture / collectables combined under one roof - Round Chapel, Clapton, Hackney once a month from 4pm until 9pm - ie mums / dads / babies / toddlers can hit the early hours and after workers (formal work, so as not to upset anyone including myself!) can pop in on the commute home.

As we say in our house 'Super Sonic Tronic' no reason why we say this apart from its ace!
There's no better way to spend an afternoon after nursery than wandering around the fabulous Round Chapel and admiring gems.

Images...

... I have a love / hate thing with social media (which is odd as I write a blog - I know.) but I do - some forms of social media actually scare me a little.

Any social media that involves words as the preliminary or main source of focus - for me - has made me feel at times negative / unhappy / uncomfortable.

However - Instagram - is one form of social media I enjoy. I love people's images. I love the fact that you don't need to actually explain / have a title / or any words but when people use words and comments it all seems so much more positive. It's a community of people who like images (and sometimes words).

For example one of my new found vintage havens is in Brighton. On a weekly basis there isn't a chance of popping in but with the help of Instagram I can like / comment on an item and find out more information about it. However what's really fab is that you don't have to buy - it isn't actually about advertising. It's about show casing / admiring / being inspired.

Saturday Morning...

Nothing beats a spot of retail therapy and a decent coffee (minus child and schnauzer's). There said it - and - I don't feel too guilty!

Clothing Sizes...

Did I suddenly get bigger or did American Apparels clothing get smaller... either way clothing thoughts aside I can honestly say that the guys that work at the Curtain Road branch are fabulous!

With a trashed receipt (helped by the aid of throwing it in the bin with tea bags...) I was able to exchange my minuscule items. I was there fore able to leave with a child wearing one of their fluro pink t-shirts (thinking that he wasn't paying as he was wearing it - I did pay!!) and a heap of stuff that actually was wearable for someone over who has hit 'the teenage years and over'...

Shopping at the Laundrette...

I had to pop out today to pick some fabulous vintage clothing up (such a terrible task - not!) but the instructions were as follows -

I'm at broadway market (easy - I know where that is)

At the laundrette (mmmmmmmm...)

And so forth I went, quite literally to the laundrette - it is fabulous!!! Amongst people actually doing their laundry there was the most fab vintage clothing - washing and shopping - talk about multi tasking!!

And everything was bundled up into the most amazing vintage scarf bag ever! The Laundrette, Broadway Market, Saturdays, see you there...

The Big Clear Out...

37 bin bags of clothes and 5 bags of shoes later Mushroom believes he has his own adventure park and I can now sit down - job done!

So the only thing we had to do now, was wait for the fabulous owner of Strut to come and take it all away! Where he will sort through what's good enough to sell (and his customers would like) and what is not for him but to give back to the charity shops.

Part 1. of clear out done. Now to clear up the chaos I made whilst debating - keep or clear out...

Part 2. tidy up.

Part 3. anything I find from now on that doesn't fit or work will immediately go into a 'give to friends / charity / sell' bag.

Part 4. breath...

There is nothing Dusty about this Vintage...

Although it is labelled as 'Dusty Fingers - Hackney's new vintage night market', I can say there is nothing (nothing) dusty about this vintage market!
Whilst Mushroom is occupied (under supervision and not home alone!) I sneaked out to meet a friend and have a quick mooch before my hair appointment - I wish I'd had more time! Brilliant collection of jewels, home wear, clothing (weighted more for the ladies) and generally an awesome selection (and in great condition) of vintage (yes vintage and not tat...).
So if you fancy checking it out - its the first Tuesday of every month 2.30pm (that's coffee and vintage time for me) until 9.30pm (that's bedtime for me...) - see you there!
