Monday, Funday...

... As a stay at home mum coming towards the end of the holidays I'm not feeling so fun... I want structure! I want nursery to start again (I only feel a tad bad saying that).

It's very easy to lose structure when you are your own boss. It's easy to fall into sloppy ways. I actually miss nursery not because the kids go back but because its a reason to be up and out, a reason to think a tad more about my wardrobe, a reason to start a list (I do love a list!).

And, in advance of the 'school gate' and my resolution not to wear sneakers everyday, I've invested (sales) in some Toga Pulla shoe-boots (new school term, new shoes...)...

A slightly crazed look...

This is me midst break and surrounded by the fruits of my cull. I have been critical, ruthless and it feels great (even if I look and feel like a slightly crazed person!). Although I have my moments in which I want to rip open the bags, clothes flying in all directions just in case I 'need' something back... So to distract myself we then made Lava Lamps...

Details...

So far I am loving the iPad mini! It's stretched my brain (not hard to do) and I can take detail snap shots directly!

Snip Snip & Cocktails...

I love vintage clothing, I collect vintage clothing and its not often that I chop or change it... However as much as I loved this dress I wasn't going to wear it full length.

I'm off out this evening to The Hoxton Pony for a tea party (aka cocktails served prohibition style) with a girlfriend - catch up, cocktails and a combined love of vintage clothing - perfect sunny Friday evening and hence I need something fab, fun and cool...

...there fore the dress got the chop. As is life everyone will have an opinion but I'm happy! The dress is now wearable (for me) and perfect for this evening - tea cups at the ready!

Cool Rice Pudding (literally)...

I made these for the kid (Mushroom) but on reflection I think they make a pretty tasty and fabulous summer desert (not least to say - super easy!)

A handful of Pudding Rice
A good tipple of Milk
A squeeze of Vanilla Pod extract

Pop in a pan, boil, simmer until rice is soft and its a creamy risotto consistency
(add more milk if and when needed)

When cooked, place in silicone moulds and pop in to the fridge

Turn on to plate and...

...enjoy x

Summer Reading...

Summer has arrived 8 weeks off nursery and the heat has arrived. I've started to plan 8 weeks of activity for Mushroom and I... however I am squeezing in some summer reading (taking into consideration I have the brain capacity of a gnat it's more picture browsing...).

1. Edith Bouvier Beale - A life in pictures (n.b picture thing...)

2. Russh - April / May (ok we are in July but still it looks awesome!)

3. Frankie Magazine issue 53 (spring, summer, autumn, winter - who cares! fab mag!)

Vintage Florals...

Two days ago I received a wee message from a fab friend who owns an even more fabulous vintage shop - The Shop (literally!) that he had a new batch of stock from a single owner and ranging from 1930 to 1970. Lets be honest, within ten minutes I was stood outside The Shop!
So having spent the last two days admiring, preening and cleaning I am nearly ready to start wearing...

The 3 Pink Piggies...

So later this week Mushroom turns 3! which means that this weekend just gone we held a wee party for 15 kids!! (yep thats not a typo - 15). The theme Pink Pigs - not hard to work out - he loves Pink and he loves Pigs - which pleased me greatly - not a branded pig for our kid, nope - independent piglets!

n.b He also seems to have developed a passion for guitar playing (just in case you wondered what he's doing!)

A Craft Gift...

Trawling through the local charity shops is a pleasure, a past time, relaxing, fruitful and delightful. I love finding the unexpected, not only for myself and our family but also for friends. Here's a wee gift I made...
